Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu, a British tennis sensation, made waves in the sport when she achieved a career-best ranking of No. 10 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) on July 11, 2022, and was once the top-ranked female player in the UK. She made history as the first British woman since Virginia Wade’s triumph at Wimbledon in 1977 to claim a Grand Slam singles title.

Raducanu’s incredible run at Wimbledon, despite being ranked outside the top 300 and receiving a wildcard, saw her reach the fourth round in her first major appearance. Her most remarkable achievement came at the 2021 US Open, where she became the first qualifier in the Open Era to clinch a Grand Slam singles trophy, defeating Leylah Fernandez in a flawless campaign without dropping a single set. Raducanu remarkably avoided any top-10 opponent en route to the title, accomplishing this feat in only her second major tournament. However, since her historic victory, she has been unable to secure another match win at the US Open.
